Our matcha is sourced from the Kirishima mountains of Kagoshima, Japan, a region know for it's mineral rich volcanic soil near the active Sakurajima volcano. The nutrient dense terrain is naturally high in potassium, calcium, and magnesium, which nourish the tea plants and contribute to the matcha's natural sweetness, vibrant green hue, and rich depth. The elevated, cooler climate further slows the leaf development, concentrating it's flavor and nutritional profile.
Thoughtfully Grown
Crafted from early spring, first-harvest tencha leaves, our matcha is shade grown, harvested at peak freshness, and stone-ground. It's cultivated using organic farming practices, and is free from synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, or additives. Everything is done with intention, from the way the leaves are cultivated to how they're ground into fine, velvety powder. Each batch is a professionally blended combination of Yabukita, Saemidori, Okumidori, and Asanoka cultivars, blended by a Japanese tea master for balance, depth, and smoothness.
Organic Integrity
Our matcha is certified JAS organic, Japan's official organic standard. While it's not certified under USDA organic guidelines, JAS maintains equally rigorous - and in some areas, stricter standards, particularly around soil health and input transparency. In line with U.S. labeling regulations, we describe this product as organically grown to reflect it's cultivation without making unverified claims.
